Who We Are
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is the uniformed volunteer component of the United States Coast Guard, established by Congress in 1939. Our mission is to support the Coast Guard in nearly all of its service areas, except for direct law enforcement or military engagements. Think of us as the trusty sidekick, but with snappy uniforms and better jokes about maritime misadventures.
What We Do
Around Table Rock Lake and across the country, our dedicated members:
- Promote Boating Safety: We offer public education courses—like the ones you’ll find here—to ensure everyone on the water knows the difference between a port and a starboard (pro tip: your left from the driver’s seat, or the side you might hang your jacket on).
- Vessel Safety Checks: Yes, we’ll help inspect your boat to make sure you have all the necessary safety gear. No, we won’t judge you for the questionable life-vest color. Much.
- Augment Search & Rescue: Under the Coast Guard’s direction, Auxiliary units often assist in maritime search and rescue. We like to say we’re the “safety net” for those unexpected moments when fish decide you’d make a better roommate underwater.
- Environmental Protection: Protecting our lakes, rivers, and coastlines matters. We help with pollution response and environmental education—if the fish are going to judge us, at least let’s keep their house clean.
Our Partnership with Boat Safe on Table Rock Lake
“Boat Safe on Table Rock Lake” is proud to be sponsored by the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. Our shared goal is to educate, empower, and encourage safe boating practices. Whether you’re a first-time paddler or a seasoned skipper, we believe every trip on the water should be as smooth as a calm lake at sunrise (minus the occasional goose squad).
